Representative Projects

Unique features include an impressive, domed atrium and an underground tunnel connecting to the nearby county jail. Framing includes drilled pier foundations with multi-level, cast-in-place concrete lateral systems. The exterior skin is precast concrete, as is the structural framing of the parking garages.

Two main buildings comprise these towers. Post-tension concrete was used for the 6-story parking garage and office tower. The 30-story highrise, home to 224 condominium units, was designed as a poured-in-place and reinforced concrete structure. Civil design included sidewalks, curbs, gutters, streets, site grading and utilities.

This 6-story building is constructed with architectural/structural precast spandrels at the perimeter with a precast double tee and inverted tee beam floor system. The foundations consist of a combination of precast concrete cores supported by reinforced concrete drilled piers founded in bedrock.

A refined "Denver Frame" structural system, this 14-story building in the Denver Tech Center is a multi-use structure. Columns around the core carry the gravity loads; instead of concrete shear walls, large structural steel x-bracing in the core walls resist lateral loads.

Unique aspects include the use of numerous exposed construction materials and details which are to be used as teaching tools. Examples include cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, lateral x-bracing, shear walls and steel trusses. Due to expansive soils, the building is constructed with a strucutral lower floor level with a crawl space and is founded on drilled piers.

RWC designed the structures for all three massive airside concourses at DIA. RWC also provided subsequent alterations to accomodate the commading sculptures, such as the pictured "Beaded Crossing" by Alice Adams.
